Frequently Asked Questions

Why use a professional voiceover artist?

Sound is such a direct medium. It can be both intimate and striking at the same time. The human voice is something that people instantly connect to, so it’s really important to make sure you give your brand the right voice.

Yes, you could record your own work, but just because you have a voice, doesn’t make you a voiceover artist.

The style your work is recorded in is a key part of your brand; listeners need to like what they hear from your company. Potential customers will notice if your people sound nervous, or the quality of the recording is poor.

As a professional voiceover artist, I ensure that I understand your brief and work with you, so I’m connecting with your audience in the right way.

How do I choose a suitable voiceover artist?

There are a wide range of voice talents to choose from, and ultimately, the decision to use a particular voice is personal.

Many of my clients cite my tone as warm, upbeat and professional, with a unique timbre. It’s about finding the right tone that fits with your brand the audience you want to connect with.

I’m happy to record a sample of your script, if it helps in your decision making process.

What questions will you ask, before recording can start?

I’ll need to know the scope; how long the script is, what the purpose is, who it’s aimed at and the required style. My background is in broadcasting and acting, so voiceover is second nature to me. Once you’ve talked me through what you need, I can deliver it quickly.

How long does it take to record a voiceover?

Once I have your script, I can turnaround a finished voiceover on wav or mp3 within 24 hours. Or if you prefer, you can direct a live session.

Get in touch to check my availability or please call me on 07967 135163 if you would like to chat through your job before booking it in. I’m equally as happy to work from a clear, emailed brief of your work: [email protected].

What equipment does your studio have?

My broadcast studio is fully equipped studio with ISDN for live sessions, a Pronto 3 codec and Orpheus microphone. Audio is recorded using Adobe Audition on mp3 or wav. My ISDN line is 01275 891024.

How much does it cost to work with you?

That depends on the nature of the job. Either there is a Basic Session Fee (BSF) of £200, or I will quote for the finished edited work. For example – 20 minutes of finished edited audio, will take more than 20 minutes to record and is quoted accordingly. As a guide, when it comes to writing scripts, we speak on average at 3 words per second. I’m pretty flexible and try to fit within budgets, as well as stay in line with the suggested rates on the Equity Rate Card.

How do I pay you?

I’ll invoice you at the end of the job and payment can be made within 30 days.
